We Got Tomatos
I really enjoy this time of year. I enjoy going out to get new plants to plant; you know flowers and such, but mainly tomato plants! I just really enjoy getting out there and digging up the dirt and making a space for my tomato plants! However, my wife tells me the same thing each year. David, that's just to many plants and that's not enough space. "What are we going to do with all those tomatos?" At this point we both know she's right, I give a nod and say ok and we both know that I squeeze in those last two plants to make ten. Hey, it's a big bucket.
Do you ever try to make it all fit? It's hard isn't it? There are so many things that I like to do and need to do and have to do that it doesn't leave a lot of room. There's picking up the kids and dropping off the kids, cooking meals, paying the bills oh yeah work, so the last one can happen and what about caring for family or helping out friends, doctors visits and tomato planting, but in the midst of it some things and some people get neglected. But how did it happen we all have 365 days. Right? Well actually 243 days . . . left. It's hard to believe isn't it. We have already used 122 days as of April 22, it goes fast.
We each have been given time and space how we choose to use it is up to us. What do you want to be able to say at the end of next year? Was it a good harvest? Did you share Christ with anyone? Did you make someone's load lighter, did you forgive an enemy? Did you get what we hoped to get? What did you plant? If you want tomatoes, don't plant turnips and if you want love don't plant bitterness and spite.
You have to till the soil, plant, pick weeds and tend with water and protect it, because its Gods gift to you. Be sure of what you want because what you choose to grow will be made daily in the big and ever so small choices. This is a kingdom principle it's a truth for nations and individuals for commerce and for churches. One year turns so quickly into another that before long the choices that we have made over the years begin to make us. The plan then is to not simply look at what best suits me for the moment or even how I want to be remembered, but how I will answer the One who gave to me both seed to sow and a time and place to sow it.
Remember, we at some point will pass on to others the actions of our sowing for the good or the bad but, we won't be the only ones that reap what we sow. Those around us and those behind us might thrive or perish by the crop they reap from our hand or our mouths. May we sow well into the lives of others and use wisely our time to plant (tomatoes) and certainly kingdom things that would make God smile.
Never forget how much God loves you.
Pastor David
By now you have realized that you have entered a changed web site. We have made and will continue to make changes. However there are probably many people that have already seen what we have had for so long that they stopped looking. There are others that rarely look and we would like to get the word out. So this is what we are going to do. I am trying to have us notify 100 people about our site by Friday. The winner will be rewarded with a lovely tomato plant. Yes that's right I said it! Tomato plant!! When people mail in they just mention the name of the person that notified them. I will count up the names and the winner will be rewarded! I will give no one advance notice. But if I did bet or had money to bet with it would be on Elliott! To the rest do the best you can!
Here are the rules.
There can be no mass mailings. about the web site it has to be all online.
We will start 12am weds
We will stop Friday at midnight
No word of mouth from now till Friday.
After Friday share this good news in every way you can!!
Remember this is to be fun! dmoutz@obcwv.org
