We are Oakwood Baptist Church and we welcome you to our website!
This web site was created with the hope of communicating with you about who we are, what is happening here at the church and in our city of Charleston WV. We want you to know what we believe, how you can find us and certainly what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.Relationships
Here at Oakwood we believe that it is all about relationships. You see we believe that it
is important that we both “Come to Jesus and go to others” in the things that we do here at Oakwood. Our relationship with God and with others is vital and our desire here is to communicate that through music, art, video, stories, pictures, games, dialogue or
what ever might help to encourage and strengthen you in that relationship with .
What we believe is that we must always seek to build and grow in our relationship
with Jesus Christ. We feel that however we respond, reach out or serve others that it
must come out of that relationship that we have with Jesus. Having a relationship
with Jesus should compel us to go to others; it shouldn’t keep us comfortable within the confines of the church building. However, we should never believe that mere service
however great is no substitute for a relationship with Jesus.
Therefore we live within the holy tension of “Coming to Jesus and going to others” as a
daily practice of what it truly means for us to be a Christ follower. We hope that you will
see that, within this web site, our church and each of our lives.
